A couple actually. Porsche owners with RVs who don’t absolutely need a hotel room I guess.

Now, how many PCA members camp at the track in a tent?

Kinja'd!!!

Just me lol

Kinja'd!!!

At Palmer for tomorrow and Sunday so I’m camping tonight and tomorrow night. First time using my tent, or any in over a decade, but for a great reason. Also I’m inside their classroom with A/C and wifi doing some actual work so maybe this is glamping?

I’ve spent a few nights camping at tracks with my Miata, always in a tent. Doesn’t seem to be super common, people with their needing showers and amenities pffft. I even once camped at an autox event where they had a fire ring available and some wood so I actually got the full camping experience in. Track camping I have to bring so much stuff though that the Miata is difficult. With transporting tires, so many tools since stuff always breaks, and camping gear. I've gotten creative with my luggage rack though.

There’s a fire pit next to me, but yeah the Cayman has no space for firewood with all my gear. I will plan to try that sometime though! Autocross would be silly for me though because the house is bought is 5 minutes away! I do have a fire pit at the good though.....

That’s AWESOME! I really wanted rack mounts by generation is the first without them :( why aren't you a PCA member though? It's been pretty incredible for me so far even if it's somewhat out of my demographics.

Yours doesn’t have provisions for a rack under the roof trim? Thought 987s had little tabs you could pull out with anchors. Maybe a suction rack?

As far as the PCA, I ’m just not a “club guy” at this point. Mostly it’s demographics, because I’m not a rich retired guy like the rest of the club around here , I don’t give a shit about wine tours and brunches or black tie dinners , and I certainly can’t make their weekday coffee meets because I’m, you know, at work. If I was in a more urban or active area maybe I’d feel differently , but I’m not a wealthy man in money or free time, so the chapter here just doesn’t justify the membership fee for me and generally isn’t full of people i want to hang out with. But , I’ve only been on my journey bringing this car back to life for a year. We’ll see what the future brings. Love that you're using your car properly, nothing beats dirtbag sportscar camping!!

I have a 981, the 987 was the last with stock mounts unfortunately.

And I agree on your points as I too am not rich, retirement age, or interested in the finer things lol but their organization of track events and the support they have from dealers, vendors, and each other is all worth it for me. Plus discounts on parts hehe

I’ve become an expert at tenting out of the car on racing/road trips. I’ve actually become a big proponent of it because there are so many free/dirt-ass-cheap places to camp all over the country. I’m convinced that with camping two people could take a full week (or longer) driving coast-to-coast across the country - in almost any car - for under $1,000. And that’s covering food, gas, lodging, and entertainment/sightseeing.

Hi Stef! Thanks! Hope all’s well?

This car has been a journey and a half, it was a bit of a moment for me to finally dirtbag it properly at Laguna. A wrote a whole big thing about the car, if you’re bored and/or care to proofread some Parsh :

I would wager a lot of PCA members are poorer than you think.

I signed up my father in law who has a lowly 1st gen boxster
